Nigerians should take regular exams to prevent diabetes - Expert

The doctor advised Nigerians to drink used to go for regular diabetes control and reduce consumption of sugary beverages.

Dr. Uchenna Iroko Department of accidents and Minna General Hospital emergency gave the advice in an interview with news agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna.


He said that the Council was required, because the symptoms are not manifested in the patient.

He described diabetes as include more disease that affects all parts of the body.

Iroko said that increased consumption of sugar-based drinks has been responsible for the looming epidemic of diabetes registered in the country.

According to him, many people are unaware they have diabetes.

"When insulin produced in the islet cells of the pancreas that controls blood sugar levels is not enough in the body, a person is at risk of diabetes.

"Sometimes the insulin produced by the pancreas causes the body to become resistant to it, and in such cases, the blood glucose level becomes uncontrollable because insulin can not be controlled.

"This can lead to high blood sugar, a person can be a diabetic does not know until he or she passes a medical in addition to" confirm ", he said.

Iroko said that there are two types of diabetes; The type 1 and type 2, which are common in young, middle and old age.

He advised people to go for blood tests and random sugar glucose to see if his body was intolerant or diabetic.

He said that this step will be a long way to helping people achieve their health and to reduce the consumption of sugar and sweet drinks.

The physician noted that the change exercise, diet control and regular physical lifestyle and help prevent diseases such as diabetes.

He added that the failure resulted in emergency situations in which the majority of the patients were taken to hospital unconscious.
